Time Out

Time is ticking out. “… put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” 1 Tim. 6:17

As the old saying goes, work hard… play harder (… pray hardest), my wife and I see to it we have our time outs.

Like any sport, every player needs time out.

… a break from the daily grind either from teaching, empowering, organizing, or taking care of our two boys (who we think had a feast of chocolates almost every day).
… a moment away from supervising children in the classroom, researching for new stocks to own or trade, or building relationships to serve more Filipinos.

It has been part of our married life that we have our weekly one-on-one’s. Great thing, we haven’t missed a moment.

However, our dates are not pricey. We see to it that we get the best value for our money.

How?! Let me recommend some. Instead of spending much, we surf the internet to get amazing discounts vouchers from Groupon, Cashcashpinoy, Metrodeal, and Deal Grocer. My wife will do the research; I will spend for the date (Rats!). Others would be given by generous friends. Like ring side seats for a basket ball game or a concert of a well known musical group. While some, we simply get at affordable rates: DVD nights, board games, wrestling matches with the kids, or simply goofing around the house.

As you can see, there’s nothing spectacular. But the thing that makes me look forward to our date-nights, are the conversations shared during these event.

… the jokes thrown.
… the stories learned.
… even the silent walks while holding hands.

These make time-outs phenomenal.

Take one. We all need it.
