Online writing is my current bread and butter. It’s quite different from the traditional publishing world of which I was part of more than a decade ago.
As part of the editorial team, I met face-to-face with our writers and suppliers. I knew how and where to “hunt” them when their deliverables are late. Now, I get to communicate with my clients over email and instant messaging. I don’t know how they look like and I don’t really know the exact details of their business. They just tell me what they want me to write, I ask for a measly down payment, and get the rest as soon as they approve my work.
Do I ever get duped? Yes, a couple of times. I get disappointed for trusting the wrong people but I charge it to experience. If there’s someone whom I have trusted but has never let me down, it is the Lord.
The Bible tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not to lean on our own understanding. Honestly, it’s easy for me to trust God especially when things are going smoothly. It’s the “not to lean on your own understanding” part that I struggle with when my troubles become too heavy to bear.
But over the years, I have slowly learned how to humble myself and let go of my fears and frustrations. I get on my knees and have a quiet, yet intimate, conversation with the Lord. Only after doing so do things become clearer. Bit by bit, I come to understand how God wants me to solve my problem. He already had it planned and ready but I was too disturbed to notice.
In times of difficulty and despair, trust in the Lord and let Him take charge. You may not get all the answers at once because He’s never in a hurry. Nevertheless, be assured that His solutions are all you will ever need.
